You’ve designed a blueprint, or vision statement, for your most highly desired version of life, but you’re just not feeling it.
You might even be reading over your vision statement, imagining yourself living the moments it describes.
But instead of opening up a sense of wonder and sparkly anticipation of fabulous things, a part of you feels constricted, blah, or even distant from the inspired spark of delightful possibility you felt at the beginning, when you first began designing it.
Sometimes our vision becomes a bedazzled version of what we think we should do or have to do in order to have a life we love.
What’s missing is clarity.
The answer is to go deeper — not to jump ship, give up on your vision, and go searching for satisfaction all around you.
It’s so easy to get wrapped up in what’s required to be successful. Unzip and drop the weighted jacket of shoulds and have-tos.
Allow your heart’s longing to rise up and be felt. What your heart wants is usually pretty simple. Let what arises be simple. It’s what we do in response to fear of lack that complicates things.
The answer to the question, “What is my soul most deeply longing for me to bring forward in my life now?” doesn’t have to include all the details or even the means for how to get there, including the typical steps that seem obvious or familiar to you.
If you’re continually covering up your heart’s longing with a weighted vest of shoulds and have-tos (…and “or elses”), you’ll never hear your heart and won’t give yourself the chance to quench that longing.
When your vision leaves you feeling confused, bombarded, flat, or constricted, go back to the core of what you would love and why you love it.
Go deeper, past all the detail and bedazzle. Listen for what your heart is most deeply wanting. Feel that. Let yourself long for what you deeply desire.
It’s okay not to immediately fill the want, because the longing itself is your soul loving you into clarity.
