Today I come to you with an invitation.
Remember: love, ecstatic joy, the palpable deliciousness of being alive is here, in this moment, right where you are.
Even if you’re contending with anything from a “rushing to get out the door” moment, to a life-disrupting event.
“Either God is, or God ain’t.”
I was recently reminded of this by my mentor.
It can’t be both. We can’t witness the abundant splendor of nature and think that that same elegance and abundant aliveness doesn’t exist for, and within, us.
No matter how removed you may feel from really vibing with your own magnificence, no matter what degree of struggle you’re wrestling with, you always have an access point to come back to the present, back to yourself.
Steps Back to the Magnificent Present
#1 Give Yourself Grace
“Give a kind glance” to the part of you who is doing its best to navigate daily life and survival in this human experience.
Or, another way you’ve heard this said before: stop beating yourself up!
#2 Focus on the Small Immediate Stuff
Remind yourself: Love is here, where I am. I am breathing, I am alive. Nothing is missing.
#3 Match the Frequency
What might arise next is: “How can I access this aliveness, this joy, if it’s right here, right now?”
You access what you want to experience in the present by matching the vibration. (I know that can sound overly simple, but it’s physics, not fluff.)
#4 Focus Your Attention
One thing we can control is where we direct our attention. In fact, attention is our prayer.
Ask, “Where may I focus my attention to feel the presence of this aliveness, richness, gratitude and divine kindness?”
- Focus your attention on a desire, an unseen “good” that’s forming. What would feel alive, inspired and joyful to come to fruition in your life? See it in your imagination and hold the feeling of its completion in your heart.
- If that feels daunting, you can begin by recalling a memory of a really good feeling. Playing with a pet or a grandchild, having a fun family day, or creating something you felt really proud of. Once you can feel that feeling, you can go back to the step above, and connect it to a current desire.
- And, if you feel no connection with anything but the struggle you’re in, that’s ok, too. Even inside of the struggle, you can pause, breathe and presence gratitude, by giving your attention to any thing, any place, any person, any blessing you can see, that you do have.
This is about having a tactile experience of the love, joy and awe-inspiring amazingness of who you already are, no matter what the conditions are.
We’re all in this together, in the midst of this wild unknown, yet known, human-Divine expression and experience. And feeling the joy, gratitude and love is your birthright.
What can you focus on today to more fully enjoy the beauty that’s here now? You deserve it. It’s all here for you.
