Have you ever noticed how easy it is to override your true desires with logic, “shoulds,” or the way it’s always been?
I’ve been reflecting on this a lot lately as my family and I stepped into a new chapter… moving toward our dream home. At first, it felt like a long shot.
The numbers didn’t add up neatly. My mind quickly listed all the reasons why it might not work.
And yet, every time I quieted the swirl and asked one simple question — “What does my heart have to say about this?” — the answer was steady, clear, and expansive.
My heart wasn’t concerned with the spreadsheets or the timing. It was tuned into something deeper.
The joy of gathering loved ones around the table. The creative spark that comes alive when I have space and beauty around me. The peace of looking out at a horizon that mirrors the freedom I feel inside.
That’s when I realized: listening to the heart isn’t about ignoring reality. It’s about bringing reality into alignment with what’s most true for us.
When we allow ourselves to become confidants with our own heart, we stop shoving down what we really feel. We stop playing small. We stop living in reaction to the “rules” that someone else made up.
And here’s the truth I keep coming back to: ease is the natural flow of life.
When things feel heavy, cramped, or like I’m forcing myself into a mold that doesn’t fit, it’s not because I’m failing. It’s simply an effect of unawareness.
The moment I notice, the moment I give myself permission to ask my heart, everything softens.
So today I want to offer you this same invitation. Think of an area in your life where you’re craving expansion — your work, your relationships, your health, or maybe your living space. Before rushing to fix or decide, pause.
Place your hand on your heart. And ask:
- “What does my heart have to say about this?”
- “Does this feel expansive or constrictive?”
- “If I were being completely honest, what would I love?”
The answers may surprise you. They may even scare you. But they are always guiding you toward the life you were meant to live.
What would shift if you trusted that voice today?
